New to hockey or just want a chance to work on skills in a slower game? Here are our local options.

The Skate of the Union tournament, specifically designed for novice players. 

Let freedom ring! The Skate of the Union tournament will take place July 3-5, 2026. The tournament is a draft-style tournament specifically geared towards novice and C/D level players. Because of the draft style, we cannot guarantee that players will necessarily be drafted with friends, spouses, cousins, etc. 

Cost for the tournament is $165.

There will be a developmental league beginning soon that will play on Sundays afternoons.

During the off-season, we host A Team, a novice skate on Sunday evenings. Registration is required, so please email bruhaboard@gmail.com for more information.

If you're a military veteran, you can also join up with the Acadiana Veterans.

Women of all skill levels are invited to join the Bayou Women's Hockey Association on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

There are also skills classes on Wednesday evenings at 8:00, coached by former IceGator and all-time ECHL scoring leader Louis Dumont.
